"A Most Chaotic Croquet" is part of an ongoing series of paintings inspired by Lewis Carroll's classic, Alice in Wonderland. As surreal as Alice's adventure is, there is a fascinating similarity to the rules and structures of our own 'real' world. In this case, Alice struggles to impose order upon a game that is designed to generate only anarchy, and to feed the narcissism of the powerful. So in that sense, she is very similar to any of us in actual life. For do not the rules of our lives often feel equally arbitrary, equally slanted toward nonsense and chaos?
